"What did you want them to do, just kill of a main character?"

No, I obviously wanted them to write a show/movie better such that characters live and die based on their strengths and wits, not luck and whether or not they are a main character.

How do so many people not get what the criticism of "Plot Armor" is meant to address?

What if the main character never dies because of his strength, wits, etc...?could just make a main character like that so they never have to kill him off

But the network/studio tested audiences and found that this character rated highly, so now you have to give this character more scenes even though its clear they should have been killed off by now.

There's an episode of Aladdin where the bad guy is a godlike cat creature. The good guys claim that he's going to lose because Aladdin has plot armor, so the cat creates his own Aladdin to also take advantage of the plot armor.

Even so, writers need to write better rather than having luck, coincidence, or plot armor save a character.

Sometimes things get so lazy that the show or movie will just cut away, but because the camera wasn't there to film the character escape the seemingly impossible scenario we left them in its up to the audience to come up with an excuse. Like "We wrote this person into this horrible situation, you figure out how they got out, we can't be bothered to"

is this show available anywhere? I looked years ago and couldn't find it.

I know it wasn't quite as good as the movies, but it had it's own whacky charm to it. It was very clear the writers had no direction and going batshit insane crazy with it. I'd love to watch it again as an adult

At the end of the day, someone watching has a threshold of how much "luck" they're willing to accept for a character surviving things. Whether it's from a situation of everyone around them being killed but not them, or them receiving a grievous wound and then being up and about a bit later, everyone has a limit to their suspension of disbelief.

It's all a part of good writing and some writers just take advantage of it way too much.

Conversely I really hate how game of thrones and bad anime has made people think to have a good story you need to have plot important people randomly dying left and right throughout a story.

Fiction being turned into a giant death pool doesn't make it good automatically, or even usually

Yep, it's not whether people die. It's if it's tied to in universe logic that matters.

TWD has done some "plot anti-armor" where it's just been a death because it's that point in the season or whatever.

Then you create situations like in the sopranos where the main character survives insane situations, like not getting shot despite a shotter shooting him at point-blank range.

TWD has done some "plot anti-armor" where it's just been a death because it's that point in the season or whatever.

TWD seems to exist solely to kill off characters at this point. There are the midseason and end of season finales where characters are in danger, and absolutely nothing in between. I can't fathom why anyone would want to watch a show like that.
