Im not impressed with the way my company is headed and kinda wanna jump ship. The issue is I work full time so scheduling interviews will be a bit hard + I live in an aera where my chosen industry isn't exactly prominent.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? I'd rather find work before I leave my current job, and would also rather not have my current employers grow sus

Super stressful situation right now to be honest...

Like, I'm not concerned money wise, i've got plenty of savings to live off for quite a while. My issue is, if I were to just leave before I found another job, it could be months before I find other suitable work just due to the lack of it in my area. And by that time I would have been unemployed for months which isnt a good look.

Ugh...

Would you be able to go during your lunch break?

I've got a longer lunch break than most places so if the transit is short I could fit in a decent interview during lunch

The issue then becomes - Typically I am in the lunch room during lunch. And all of a sudden I would be missing regularly. I'm over-worrying I guess but if I were my manager that would look a little sus

Find ways for it to seem more normal. Use whatever flexibility your work can offer you (e.g. taking a long break or finishing early on a particular day of the week as a routine thing) then using that time for an interview. Heck, you could even just start having your lunch elsewhere more frequently, then people would get used to you not being at lunch every day.

You already have a job
Unless you live in some terrible place for rights, then you won't get fired for taking lunch outside

Looking for a job when you have one cuts down interview stress massively as you are not desperate

Maybe you just decided to drive to a fast food joint instead

Your manager really shouldn't be giving a shit about what you do on lunch breaks as long as you aren't like, working.

He def wont give me shit about it, again im probably worrying over nothing

Three choice
1) Move. With all the bullshit that entails.
2) Stay on a sinking ship while you hold out for a unicorn. Probably a bad idea.
3) Change fields. Look at what skills you use, and look for jobs that use those fields regardless of field.

Its ******* awful and I gave up and signed with a recruiter. Im basically going to start being aggressive again next year because I need to save some money and I just bought a new truck and vacation package to Japan. All jobs suck, so might as well live a little!

And I feel like the employers prefer you to be already employed is complete horse ****. I had better prospects when I was unemployed and its hard for me to even get a damn phone screen now.

Rant over :)

Doing that right now, in fact I just came back from an interview on the opposite side of the country.

It's really hard to balance but you do what you've got to do i guess.

Who fucking cares if they're suspicious, it's not illegal to look for another job. I just accepted a new position but haven't told my boss yet. He already knows because I told half my coworkers. I don't fucking care though because I know I'm one of the best workers he has

I just did this last month or so. Im salaried though so it was easy for me to walk out anytime to take calls. The last interview had me fly out to another state so I took a vacation day for that. When I was hourly, Id make up doctor appointments. I wouldnt stress about it.

I work for a company that is headed downward as well and I'm going to be getting out while the getting's good. As far as scheduling the interview goes you can always schedule it during your lunch break. Or take an early out. Or say you gotta go run an errand for the wife. Etc. There's always a way. If you really want out you'll find a way to make it there.
