I swear the Star Wars sequels are masterpieces by comparison.

it's gone down a bad path but that's an exaggeration. there's far worse trainwrecks out there

But there has probably never been a show that was so amazingly good at first that then decreased in quality this much. It's usually avarage stuff that ends up below average.

I heard Lost was pretty bad.

"Average Joe" is a trolling term since it's completely an opinion. "Overachieving" is also an opinion. - SBAllen (Hellhole: 52458377)

interesting perspective
maybe relatively speaking it's up there, yeah. like the relative drop from the best of the show to the worst of the show. but it's definitely nowhere near the worst stuff out there

until we see next weeks episode though its still dexter for me

also lost is up there too yeah

To me it's the journey not the destination. GOT gave me 7 great seasons (yes, seven). 8 is bad but I did like the first two episodes. I will forever love the show but I will always view it like I do the godfather trilogy...the trilogy with two movies, so the 8 season show with seven seasons

Lost, Dexter, etc. still trump GoT in the trainwreck department.

I haven't even seen GoT, but going from the OT to Phantom Menace was a colossal loss of quality. Not sure anything tops that.

This is nothing new and happens to all shows with 6/7/8/9+ seasons. I cant think of a single show with that many seasons where this hasnt happened. Production and special effects greatly improve each season due to the increased budget, new technology and larger fan base. However, its always at the cost of unnecessarily extending the show, usually with worse writing too. Lost, dexter, walking dead come to mind. All still very entertaining shows, just didnt end as strong as they started story wise.

Breaking bad was perfect. Ended with 5 seasons. Not saying GOT should have had less seasons, I would actually appreciate more. But regardless, I just always feel this is inevitable with long running shows.

Its just the most popular trainwreck.

Mad Men's ending was kinda bleh. Dexters was awful. Its just a show with too many seasons trying to wrap a bunch of shit up at once.

Also GoT was weird because its a bunch of writers finishing a story that they didnt write.
