Production and special effects greatly improve each season due to the increased budget, new technology and larger fan base. However, its always at the cost of unnecessarily extending the show, usually with worse writing too. Lost, dexter, walking dead come to mind. All still very entertaining shows, just didnt end as strong as they started story wise. Breaking bad was perfect. Ended with 5 seasons. Not saying GOT should have had less seasons, I would actually appreciate more.
