My wife loves me and I love her more than anything, and while that's the most important thing bar none I do realize outside of our relationship I don't like myself; especially when it comes to being friendly with other people. It feels almost necessary to be agreeable but I can't do it with the people around me. (at work more specifically)
We have completely different sensibilities for the most part and I've also started to wonder if people kind of suck because I've become cynical or if I've become cynical because people suck. And even if there is one or two people I'd like to get along with out of the crowd I would have to fit in within the circle to do so because I can't just pull them to the side and have a 'secret' friendship independent from the group.
