What did you like about it? Do you just like anything as long as it is Star Wars?

I liked the bits of it involving Luke, Kylo, and Rey, but found the rest of it to be dull and mismanaged. However it's nowhere near as Earth-shatteringly terrible as some people online like to think it is lol.

And I don't like anything as long as it's Star Wars. I dislike several of the video games, many of the novels, and the first two prequels

The action and the space scenes are pretty much all I care about in the Star Wars movies and TLJ had a good amount of both.

Not so hot take: the Star Wars series has a shit story altogether. They're fun mindless fantasy movies though. This one was no different and was better than the prequels.

Pretty much my opinion on Episode 8 as well.

It's the only thing you CAN like. Face it lads, The Last Jedi just isn't viable as a movie and has no place in this franchise.

Because its like the real life situation millennials face. Growing up in the 90's we were told we could be anything. We had heroes like the ninja turtles and power rangers that seemed invincible.

Star wars was like that too. The end of ROTJ ended with Han Solo getting the girl, the empire being defeated and Luke Skywalker learning to be a Jedi giving hope that a new generation would be trained.

The new trilogy reveals that this the future wasn't that bright. The empire is back, Han Solo's relationship didn't work out and luke skywalker is now a broken old man. I find this like my life situation with a near minimum wage job, global warming and the disaster of a president we have.

Instead of some happy future, the new Star Wars shows the character's ideals being crushed beneath the weight of their reality. The promise we were given to us as children was a lie.

This doesn't mean there isn't hope it means that we need to pull together to defeat the evil in front of us. Now that we know the truth we can fight it and have a happy ending.

This isn't the star wars your parents had. It might hit on nostalgia a little bit, but in the end it's moving into the future with bold new ideas, heroic new characters and a satisfying end for old ones.

This is the star wars I like, and it's much better than the Jedi superman bullcrap they did in the EU.

Interesting take on it, but the problem with that is that it wasn't a movie that was taken seriously. There were lots of not funny jokes (the Luke / Rey lighstaber scene, the scene where the big AT AT droids shoot at look and he dusts himself off, and the part where Rey tells Kylo to put a shirt on), and things that were never explained like why Rey can use the force with no training, why she and Kylo joined forces halfway through the movie, who Snoke was, etc. Also, a satisfying end? How do you figure that? Han was killed by his son, Leia was written out of the story, and Luke disappeared into thin air, again with no explanation. Also what is the evil that is infront of us? Snoke is gone, Kylo has been defeated, where is the main villain? That was never explained.

Episode 3 wasn't a fairy tale and it was awesome. This one left a lot to be desired.

it was original and stuff happened in the movie, unlike TFA which was an uncreative ripoff purely made for fan service

I just see them as eye candy.

I don't expect Scorsese level acting.

why Rey can use the force with no training,

Because it's the Force, not a power the Jedi own exclusively. The movie explains that.

why she and Kylo joined forces halfway through the movie

Because Rey felt that she could turn Kylo to the light side and their interests were aligned at that point. There is also a Force connection between them that is established but is not neccessary to explain, at least not in the middle section of a trilogy. The movie explains all of that too.

who Snoke was.

The Supreme Leader of the First Order, and an obvious analog to the Emperor who was likewise never explained beyond the master/servant relationship that he had with Vader. Kylo's central conflict is with himself and the Force and desire to live up to what he sees as the potential he has as Darth Vader's grandson. Snoke stands in the way of that and is not central to the plot.

The best part was the casino planet. Set pieces were fantastic, having the focus on a black man and an Asian woman was appreciated and including cute animals that were freed after being mistreated was very thoughtful and something the audience could sympathize with. BB8 being the hero and freeing them was very well done, so cute with the coin launching and having an acting legend like Benicio Del Toro introduced to the Star Wars saga was A+, bravo.

Outside seeing Yoda again, there's not really much else I liked about the movie. It was long and full of sci-fi cliches done better in other works. It also made the return of the "Empire" even more stupid than it seemed in TFA. I feel like Rey and Finn were wasted with a lot of potential left out.

Edit: I'm actually watching this again right now and holy shit is Del Toro's character cringy as fuck. I really love Del Toro, but that stuttering is so forced.

"N-n-n-n-need a lift?"

Also I can't believe how horrible the cgi is in this one. ILM is literally the industry leader and does like 90% of all blockbuster cgi period. Can't believe they would drop the ball this hard on their own child.

I finished TLJ again, and I have to say Yoda's scene is probably one of the best in the entire series. Brings back so many emotions.

I liked it because it reminds me of the stuff I liked from KOTOR 2. I like the grey interpretation of the Force much more than the good guys vs bad guys stuff. It was good seeing The Last Jedi bring back that weird mysterious side of it which hasn't really been a thing since The Empire Strikes Back in the movies.

I'm not a super hardcore Star Wars fans though. I like KOTOR 1 and 2 more than any of the movies. I think there's issues with every movie outside of Empire and I consider the series fun popcorn flicks that's fun to have nerdy conversations about.
