Go into it simply expecting a bunch of really cool shit to happen. There are plot lines that have underwhelming resolutions abd dome that are not resolved in any way. It's just a mish mash of crazy stuff happening without much rhyme or reason.

At one point a man has a sword fight with a fucking dinosaur! and it's amazing

You can tell when reading it that the mangaka just makes a bunch of shit up last minute which eventually becomes a giant dribble of mess. The biggest take away though is the art style and once again the premise is also pretty cool.

I can't remember how I felt about it throughout, but the end had me feeling pretty hyped.

I liked it, the premise is good but it got kinda ridiculous as it went on. Still a fun read if you can get past that though

It's nothing but random shit happening, accented by gore and big tits. An actual plot doesn't even seem to develop until the last dozen or so chapters of the manga.

Not really. From flash backs you see MC was always a bad ass, he just forgot as he never saw the things he could do as anything special. Also, many of the useless characters remain useless.

I liked the psychics. If only they stopped killing them off every few chapters.

yes i read it and i liked it but i feel it got worse during the 100 point alien arc and never recovered
my favorite character was reika but he never let her have any on screen action scenes

every reika battle followed the same formula
reika is surrounded by deadly aliens that are giving everyone trouble
she dodges the first attack
then it cuts away to see what other characters are doing
eventually it cuts back to reika showing her unharmed and all the aliens she was fighting are dead

its weird but all her action scenes are off screen
even her death scene is off screen. she is about to fight a giant alien that has to be worth 100 points on her own. instead of seeing the fight we just see the aftermath. she killed it but at the cost of her own life as well

The start is pretty good, but it gets really stupid. It's definitely a "turn your brain off to enjoy" series.

Not this one but I did read a bit of BioMega and a LOT of Knights of Sidonia which were by the same guy. Never finished KoS because I was reading it during release and got caught up with other series.

Gantz's biggest failing is that it's just things happening. There's never really a theme, a message, or a takeaway.

So I take it you didn't read more then the first few chapters. In the second mission MC beat the boss without a suit, several missions latter he'd go on to kill alien dinosaurs without a suit, while keeping a dozen characters alive who had suites but stood there just watching the whole time.So yes, MC was a bad ass.

I actually did read a few chapters somewhere in the 300s before i made this topic. There were a bunch of giant alien things and naked humans

I read it, pretty much all of it except most of the last arc.

It's edgy, but it's definitely entertaining and memorable. Avoid all the adaptations and just read the manga if you want to check it out, maybe watch Gantz: O once you finish up the manga.

It starts alright, gets really great, and then gets bad at the end.

Id recommend reading it just to experience it. There's also a really bad anime and a decent cgi movie on Netflix.

I think there are two. The first one has the issue where all of the characters just stand there holding their weapons while refusing to use them and the 2nd alleviates that issue and is a much better movie for it.

I like these new ideas at the time. Your body getting copied, implying that we dont have souls. Then gantz fucks up and makes 2 copies of the protagonist.

Also like the idea that aliens exist among us and then they are using alien take to brutally kill them.

But I gave up when I got to the vampires part. Vampires? Fuck off.

they dont do anything

there was a brief moment where it seemed like they were going to do something. especially when 2 of the vampires ended up being forced into the gantz team. but host samurai and kill bill did nothing
they basically disappeared from the series

I read it up to a point. It was interesting in that it killed off characters you wouldn't expect to die at times when you didn't think they'd die.

Beyond that, the part I remember most was butter dog. <_<
