Dude already started a new book series called Skyward, with a sci-fi setting.

Ive heard of this guy. By the sounds of it, im pretty certain most of the stuff he writes is probably junk that people mistake for being good/epic just because its long. Just like how most fantasy/scifi fans tend to be

No, it's actually pretty good. Most of his books are a slow burn with a great payoff and are genuinely fun to read.

Except for the endings which tend to feel underwhelming. Also no sex scenes since he's Mormon.

But the guy is a world builder machine. Also his theory of hard magic should be used by every other fantasy author.

Definitelt my favourite author at the moment.

I've always been satisfied with his endings, and the way everything masterfully falls into place.

Is that a problem in a fantasy book?
I never thought: "hey, you know what LOTR really needs... A full scene detailing Sam gobling on Frodos 'throbbing member'

I'm not talking about gratuitous sex (like GRRM does) . I'm talking about using it where it's relevant.

In LotR it makes little sense because Tolkien characters are highly idealized, with only a few flaws. In Sanderson books, they tend to be more human and tridimensional.

In Way of the Kings for example, there is a conversation about what theu do if they want to go to the toilet while in Plate Armor. You wouldn't find such a conversation in Tolkien.
