Even if they were plugged directly into a light socket. Then imagine the transformer in a charger shorting out and shooting 110 or 220 VAC into the battery of a cell phone, ipod, or whatever, likely just fry the charging diode, maybe explode the Lithium battery, but earbuds? Some part of this story is made up or reported wrong. Those tiny wires would burn away (and just about everything in the phone would short) before anything remotely lethal would pass through. dancer62 posted... Copper wires aren't "galvanized".
