I am resting on the living room sofa at my grandma's house (I have to work tonight, woo-hoo).

My uncle is finishing cooking Christmas dinner.

My mom is helping him.

His girlfriend is helping him.

My grandma is complaining that she isn't wearing nice enough clothes, that she can't do anything, and that she's never felt this bad and might die. Which might be more convincing if she hadn't spent the last 15 years saying things like that (pretty much since she turned 80).

I made a cake yesterday.

Saturday night, I had chest pain and passed out. In the emergency room they found that I had a significant amount of fluid built up around my heart. Went into surgery and had it removed, and they put a drain in to keep any more fluid draining out. Right now, I'm waiting for them to give me the all clear and take the drain out so I can go home.

What kind of cake did you make?

Red velvet.

1 1/2 cups Crisco
3 cups white sugar
3 cups Swans Down flour
7 whole eggs (room temperature)
1/2 cup 1% milk (room temperature)
1 bottle red food coloring

Mix Crisco and sugar together until it looks basically like snow. Add eggs one at a time until they're each mixed in completely. Add flour one cup at a time until it's all mixed in completely. Add milk and mix in completely. Add food coloring and mix in completely (needless to say this is MUCH easier with an electric mixer). Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease cake pan and cook for roughly 90 minutes. Let cool before icing. Enjoy cakey goodness.

I'm in bed browsing the internet. Mom is getting ready to go to my dad's and drop my cousin off at his grandma's on the way. I'll be here alone for a while until my brother stops by my dad's than I'll head over there.

The premade mixes just don't taste right to me. This is my mom's old recipe, I have no idea where she got it from.
