It was a back to back with Aquaman with my cousins, and honestly I feel bad for Aquaman (not that the box office does). Aquaman wasn't even bad, just average and generic, but there's really no competition there whatsoever.

It's a shame that I was already so used to the visual style from trailers, because really there are no words for how this movie looks. Not to say there weren't plenty of tricks it had outside the trailers, like the inner dialog stuff, but still. I saw an article saying they were heavily inspired by Land of the Lustrous in a lot of the action scenes' animation techniques after I watched it the first time, and I can really see it on a re-watch.

I could go on and on about a bunch of stuff, but nothing stands out as much as the aftermath of Peter's death. It's only a couple minutes, but it was stronger and, ironically, more real than any scene from any other superhero movie I've seen before. Yes, it resulted from the Universe it takes place in treating Spiderman like Superman in Metropolis, but this movie made that more than believable. The way Stan Lee was worked in there was....perfect, almost like it was planned to be his final appearance in the first place. Even without that, the Spiderman masks in the crowd alone were enough. I could have gone without the joke at the end, though.

My only issue with the movie is how the other Spideys other than Miles and Peter are mostly just window dressing (even Gwen), but at the end of the day it's probably a stronger movie for it, and extending it out another half hour for that wouldn't be to it's advantage.

Aquaman was way too fucking long by the way. You could cut over half an hour from that movie with no detriment. The studio caps JL to under 2 hours but let's Aquaman meander for 2.5? Yeesh.

Yeah, Spider-verse was amazingly cool. The plot and writing weren't as good as it could have been (although it wasn't bad, and had some great jokes) but the art style and direction was phenomenal.

I'm fine with the more comedic Spideys not having a huge role in the story, but Gwen was badly underused. She ended being my least favorite of all of them because she just has so little to do in the main plot and isn't any fun. Definitely the biggest problem with the movie.

I think my favourite thing about this movie was Peter B. Parker being voiced by Nick.

Like if you dressed Nick as Spider Man and gave him the powers and sent him out there this is exactly what he would be like.
