if you are standing in the center of the road aren't you least likely to get hit? assuming the cars are driving in their lanes.

Centrism is simply right wingers, often hard right wingers who are too cowardly to admit to their views.

Centrist sounds like someone on the center, so they chose that word.

In reality centrists are not centrist at all.

Some people may be on the right of some issues and in the left in others, or they may even have a moderate view on some points (eg immigration is not the devil, but we dont have to let all illegals in either), but those arent centrists, theyre simply people who understand that life is nuanced.

Exactly. Thats why I have more respect for republicans who admit theyre Republican over "radical centrists" who act like they're above it all. At least admitted republicans admit that they have reprehensible views

No... those are centrists.

If you pick a certain combination of views, you'll get labeled a centrist. People might call you a right-winger or left-winger based on what views they are specifically focused on, but when I took a political test in college, I was labeled a left-leaning centrist. I didn't pick my label, my views defined my label.

Depends on what you mean by centrism

Take the border. The extremes appear to be either open border or closed border.

If by centrism you mean both of these extreme sides have merits then that seems to me a stupid position because both extreme positions suck balls.

But if by centrism you mean we need a border system that allows the people to legally enter the country after passing the appropriate background checks, but not allowing people who will be a drain on our system ...well that is still obviously not nuanced enough for such a complex matter.

However...if by centrism you mean this is an insanely complex issue and there are a ton of different reasons why someone wants to enter the United States, and each situation is different therefore a nuanced approach is required because looking at a few articles online isnt enough to make me an expert in border politics so I probably dont have enough information to comment correctly then thats fine by me.

Getting tired of everyone being a complete expert in every single topic. Its fucking weird how smart everyone on CE is...

Moderate =/= centrist

The centrism refers to a belief that genuine solutions require realism and pragmatism, not just idealism and emotion. One radical centrist text defines radical centrism as "idealism without illusions", a phrase originally from John F. Kennedy.

Radical centrists typically borrow ideas from the left, the right, and elsewhere, often melding them together.[1] Most support market-based solutions to social problems with strong governmental oversight in the public interest.[7] There is support for increased global engagement and the growth of an empowered middle class in developing countries.[8] Many radical centrists work within the major political parties, but also support independent or third-party initiatives and candidacies.[9]

Like, words already have definitions. Centrism IS nuanced solutions to problems. Whether you agree their solutions are good or not, the idea that centrists are merely right wingers that rebranded themselves is objectively false.

I mean, you're probably likely to get clipped by a side mirror of one of the wider cars. Or a tractor trailer. Especially if two pass you at the same time and you can't really lean away.
