I just picked up one orchestra pit tickets to the Russian national ballet's performance of Giselle. Never been to a ballet before but thought it would be a fun experience.

Is there anything I should know about going into it? Also they have a wine and whiskey tasting before the show for an extra $25 per person. Would something like that be worth it?

There's no way we could even venture a guess. Whether the $25 is worth it or not depends on the quality of the wine and whiskey, and/or the amount you're getting. It would also vary by whoever organised it.

I'm right, as expected.

It is a thing of culture, to be sure, but also quite tedious. The greatest ballet I bore witness to involved an officer dancing about in tutu. Alas, the strain was too much for his overweight and aged heart, so he collapsed and died. It was a tragic end to a comedic moment.

That's fair. Unfortunately they don't mention any of that either. So all I know is it is a tasting with appetizers.

I hope you mean as part of the show.

Ballet isn't nearly as impressive in one viewing, but the consistency the dancers can perform on consecutive nights is magic

Just the nutcracker a few times for school field trips when I was growing up. No desire to go back as an adult.

Danced ballet for years. Very demanding physically, when I watch, it's to admire the dancers' technique.

As far a concerts, the receptions are a blast, not sure I'd pay to go to one, but great to mingle with the dancers, choreographers, producers, and directors. Usually wine, sparking water, etc.
