Long post ahead - skip to the near end if you want to know more about the giveaways.

Over the past week alone I've made some decent cash playing a simple card game that requires no skill at all. I want to use this topic to document my progress, which can literally end at any point. It might be today, tomorrow, next week, or 2 months from now (I'll most likely stop before then though).

Going to a casino and gambling is seen mostly as another place for entertainment. Play some blackjack, see a show, get free drinks with friends. I don't do any of that. I go for one simple reason. To make money. Now there is a fine line between full blown gambling addiction that plaques millions of people, and a professional. I do not see myself as either.

I play a game called Baccarat. Imagine blackjack, but instead of 21, the magic number is 9. Now, you are simply guessing who you think is going to get closest to 9 and win, either the Player or Banker. You don't have any control. Its essentially the closest game to 50-50 odds that you can get in a casino game.

There are many strategies to any table game, but besides mainly Poker, most of them are based on luck. With blackjack you can count cards, and have an edge too, however my math abilities are not that great. Not to mention casinos hate card counters which adds another element to this.

The strategy I use is a combination of hit and run (I win a small amount and get the hell out of there) and variation of martingale. Essentially you double your bet until you win. I don't play straight martingale though. The odds of losing more than 5-6 times in row are low, but not 0. Every time I play, I know can lose, its part of the game. Most people win at casino games, (not slots LOL) the problem is, they don't have any sort of money management system in place, and they also just keep playing, thinking that they will just make unlimited amounts of money in 1 night. The house has the edge, but it also has a lot to do with physiological reward biases in human beings that makes it hard to leave and to chase loses. Its taken me a long time to learn this.

So essentially, I use a big enough bankroll to leverage winning a few hundred dollars a day. I put some aside to hedge against a potential loss that happens, and I have a stopping point. That stopping point is both when to stop in the casino when I've made enough that day, but also if I lose, when to stop completely. There is a certain level of discipline that you must have, or the casino will kick your ass. Degenerate gamblers scare the **** out of me.

I first learned this strategy a few years back and had some very small success, but it was more of a headache than anything. It took awhile to refine my strategy and more importantly, my mindset, to a point where I can do this and stay ahead of losses.

So, because i'm making some decent cash that takes me like 25 minutes a day, I thought I would share that wealth with you guys. Again, I'm fully aware that this winning streak can end at any point. I'm playing with house money now, so its all just fun..

I was thinking of doing some video game giveaways, electronics, food, etc. I'm up for any ideas you have. I'll ask a question at a certain point in the day, and the first person(s) to answer correctly will win.

If you have any questions about casinos let me know. I'll also post funny stories that I see. Baccarat is a very popular Asian game, so I mostly play with people that scream at the dealer in a foreign language and just act erratic sometimes. Its quite amusing.

The house always has the edge though

The only way to truly make money gambling at casinos is card counting blackjack. That is the only way the player gets the edge

Or Poker, where you're playing against other players so the house doesn't have a vested interest in who wins (and indeed, if you're better at the game, you're likely to come out ahead).

true but that is much more skill based than anything in a casino as well as depending on the skill of your opponents

You're right, but the house edge is overrated honestly. Some games have an awful edge. I never understand why people play slot machines. But the issue is with people and how the casino is taking advantage of basic cognitive biases in the brain when you gamble.. Add in the lack of clocks, bright lights, strategically placed cashiers, 15 million ATMs, free alcohol, etc. The fact that you use chips to play and not money, is a big one too. It easy to not value cheap pieces of plastic.

I remember watching an old Travel Channel documentary about casinos and it was startling the amount of effort they put into affecting your psychology to keep you around and playing.

no it is not. it is everything

your strategy is broken as soon as you lose a decent amount of hands in a row. which is very, very possible. not statistically likely at any given point but over time more likely than not

you can't bankroll a double til you win strategy on a high minimum bet game like baccarat without already having lots of money, not to mention, you will fast run into the house maximum

They do, you just cant bet past a certain amount of money. I never go to that point, its too risky to bet 10k on one hand.

Then your strategy doesnt work, your advice doesnt work, and your real advice ITT should be make sure you get lucky

What advice? This isnt an advice topic, this is a, "I made money playing a stupid game and am now giving away video games and food" topic. I also didnt give in full detail my actual strategy, just a basic idea. I've also stated like 5 times in my original post that I could lose at any point. None of this is complicated.

I don't advise anyone to do this unless you have extra cash laying around that you wont miss, and have a high tolerance for flashing lights, risk, and cigarette smoke.

I'm gonna give away a grubhub gift card first. I can send a virtual gift card through email.

These might get more fun and complex, but the first one will just be a riddle. I'll post it within 30 minutes or so. First one to answer correctly gets it.

Ok first person to get this right, wins.

There is a 8 letter word can have one letter taken away from it and it will still make a word. Take another letter away and it still makes a word. Keep doing that until you have one letter left. What is the exact word?
