I remember this uncontainable excitement for the day I used to get. College + adulting has sucked the shit outta my holiday spirit.

Im buying presents for people but that holiday excitement just isnt there anymore. And my birthday is right after Christmas, again I dont care about it and would love to just be alone all day. Feels kinda depressing.

Its hard to get excited when we're getting blasted with Christmas everything starting November 1st. Too much exposure means by the time you actually get there you've had 2 months of it already.

3 days till Christmas. Still not in the mood. I think part of this is my Uncle passing away last year on Christmas. That was one of the roughest things I ever experienced. The phantom pain lingers.

Also I've been arguing with my mom because she's kinda nuts sometimes. I think I need to drink tbh

The only people who should care about Christmas are kids and people who have them.

I loved Christmas as a kid, but I think it lost a bit of its luster when my grandpa died, and then got a little bit worse each year. Then my parents separated, and Christmas became a time where my family would just fight with each other instead of do anything fun. Hunting presents for people gets more and more challenging each year as well.

Of course, the cherry on top of the shit cake this year is getting told our newly adopted kitten might have a form of herpes. I honestly just want the holiday and year to be over at this point.

Sorry to hear about everyone's personal things. Took me 2-3 years after my dad passing before I could fully get back into Christmas, but thankfully now that I am it's been great.

That being said, I still don't feel much of anything yet either, although I believe that's because I haven't watched my double Christmas feature of A Charlie Brown Christmas and Die Hard.

I've noticed that the actual day matters less as you get older and you instead appreciate the time leading up to it more instead, which is okay for me too.
