I'm only down 6.5%. You need to diversify your investments and put some on real estate. That's the one sector that's always holding its value well.

I'm in 92% stocks and 8% bonds so that probably makes the damage worse but I thought I split my picks up well with a mix of Midcap/Small cap/Foreign stocks etc

The people with smaller losses this year are probably going to have smaller gains in good years. It's okay to be aggressive if you're nowhere near retirement.
