I see a bunch of them (plus Chrono Trigger) are on sale, but I've heard negative things. Anyone tried them?

In my mind the 2D ones shouldn't be too bad in theory, but I dunno how FFVII or IX would translate.

Far as I know the 2D games are all fine, though they did some ugly ass sprite work on the main characters.

Yeah I think I saw people don't like the font or something like that as well but I can live with that.

I don't think I really even want the 3D ones on my phone, but I'm curious how that would even play.

I've heard Square-Enix was able to avoid screwing up Final Fantasy 4 when they ported it from DS.
As for thew 2D games, I'd suggest emulating them, that way you can use fan made patches that get rid of censorship and fix bugs.

I'm on iPhone, not Android, though. I suppose jailbreaking etc is still a thing but I don't want to mess with that. I do miss all the rom playing on my old android, though.

I can only speak for the 2d ones but they are all ok from a gameplay standpoint. For some reason they really messed with the graphics so they look terrible but if you can stomach that they're good.
