It's both awesome on their part and extremely sad on Konami's part that they care so much more about Metal Gear than Konami does.

Even Kojima screwed Hayter over. They remove him from the role of Snake only to give Kiefer Sutherland virtually zero lines. Snake has never been a silent protagonist, he's been far from it.

I suspect that was more a matter of pressure from higher up in Konami than Kojima's creative choices. Paying to shoehorn a big-name actor into an established series for publicity's sake is more a corporate-level move than something you'd expect from the series' director, especially when the actor in question has a relatively small number of lines (which suggests they were too expensive to give a bigger role to).

I know David Hayter is Snake, but the only role of Clarke I truly know is Kratos. So what is his connection to the MGS franchise?

Edit: he's even using his Kratos voice, awesome.

Actually. It was kojimas idea to bring in keifer. In a interview i saw years ago. He said he always wanted a big hollywood name in his games. If it was his choice. Kurt russell would have been Big boss in snake eater. But due to fan outrage and money budget. He brought hayter back

Mostly due to Kojima's massive love for film. It's why there's a ton of codec calls talking about real world films and the reason for MGSV's episode-like mission intros. There's a reason he consulted with Guillermo Del Toro for P.T.

Um, no. Have you paid any attention to Death Stranding? Kojima is all about palling around with Hollywood celebs now. David Hayter obviously wasn't big enough a name for him anymore.
