Ah ok, so I need the Seamoth to actually get anywhere forward.

I need a special kind of room to build the seamoth, but I don't have the blueprints.

The blueprints are somewhere difficult and scary to get to. Somewhere you probably need the seamoth to get to safely.

Also I need a fuckton of ingredients, some of which I can get, others I've never heard of.

Maybe I can make a start on the simple ones and pick up so- oh no wait, I need food.

Oh crap I need water. Guess I better spend the next hour collecting coral and salt.

4 hours later and I might have collected 2 pieces of silver and just ate a bunch of fish.

This is the only part of your post I can relate to :P

If gathering and/or survivability is no fun for you, you might want to consider playing on Creative or Freedom Mode?

No I enjoy it, it's just a bit of a grind at the moment. I'm so early on that everything is quite laborious. So food is not that nutritious and I need to catch it by hand, take it back to the base, cure it, then collect ingredients to stave off the thirst that generates. Diving is a pain because I can't breath that long or travel that fast, so collecting ore takes time.

I'm quite looking forward to getting upgrades that make self-sustaining food farms, etc.

Ah yeah, I understand. Well all I can say keep going, once you're able to build actual useful stuff you'll have no shortage of water or food.

There are a couple of useful (and dangerous) biomes you can access in the early game (at least by using floating air pumps and the first tank upgrade), but yeah... The deeper they are the scarier it gets

Man, I've been playing this game non-stop. But, some glitches are huge pains. Nearing a major point in the story in extremely dangerous terrain, bam, an attack glitches it where I can't swim... Was just walking along the bottom with no way out. >_>
Reloaded my save, but was still glitched. Luckily dying fixed it, but it left all my stuff at the bottom if the ocean. Had to recreate it to get back to it.

Now I finally got past that part, and now the game crashes every time I leave the next area. Once was right when someone started watching my stream too. Then again right after.

I love this game, it's so eery and cool, but dang it's frustrating sometimes.

You're skipping a step or two if you're going right for Seamoth.

First thing to get is the basic air tank and fins, then go for the Seaglide for more speed.

After that the Aurora will go through it's event which unlocks the radiation suit, build that as soon as you can and go to the Aurora.

Unless you're really unlucky, while on the wreck you should find enough blueprints to get the Seamoth and Prawn suit, which makes deeper dives easier.

I built the Prawn, and within minutes fell through the world and lost it. I hadn't saved in like an hour and was so fuckin pissed >_>

Just happened to me like 20 minutes ago. Fell right through, it slowed down at like 8k deep. Then after reloading my file, I had the opposite problem from my earlier post, could swim and drown in the air. Was going to check out the top of the aurora if I could, but it randomly popped back to normal. I didn't want to risk it so I just shut it down for the night.

don't give up on the game. getting the prawn suit, grapple hook and drill arm and going after the reapers attack on titan style is boss. the topic the other day inspired me to start a new save, and the map clipping has definitely gotten far worse than it was in beta. Swimming into some hills when trying to break limestone/sandstone results in going right through, never ever had that and I've been playing since alpha. used to just be the seaglide that was a problem.
