You act like you don't know then when a good opportunity comes up you use it against them. It's best to also act passive aggressive at that opportunity as it will make them feel more like shit about it.

Probably deal with it, don't ruin the professional relationship. If it's over quality of work do your work better. If it's over your appearance or behavior, make a reference to their conversation in passing but as a joke. Like if they said you look like Frankenstein's monster, jokingly make fun of yourself to them by calling yourself Frankenstein's monster. Then they know they're assholes, and your better than they are.

Don't give them a reason to talk shit about you.

Just take what they were saying about you and stop doing that.

It depends on if he can. If its something like height or something he cant change, then he cant really stop doing, nor can he change it. Well, not without a lot of money, I think...

In my work experience only the lazy annoying people get "bullied", but that's just my workplace. Maybe TC works with a bunch of young turds who just do it to entertain themselves.

I bet he overheard them talking about him blowing up the restroom everyday.

Perhaps that is an honor in itself.

I've definitely been in workplaces where people just absolutely trashed a guy for no real reason at all. I have a new co worker in this predicament. He's so clearly better than the last guy we had in every way but the boss is still trashing him all the time

Ok TBF its not really shit talking, they were just basically saying that i'm hard to have conversations with. Which is true, i'm garbage at having conversations with people i'm not super comfortable around.

And it doesnt help that half the time they are standing around in groups joking around with each other, seeing as i'm especially bad around groups of people. They'll be talking to each other and I'll hear one of them say some shit like "look at greenfox over there, sweeping and being such a good worker" and i'll just kinda smile and fake chuckle a bit, or pretend i didn't hear.

It just kinda baffles me that they think i can't hear them from the upstairs break room even though its not a closed in room, its just like a balcony over the front end (i work in retail).

Kinda the same for my workplace. The coworker who's on the receiving end of our conversations isn't lazy per se but his habits and overall behavior is simply annoying at times. He frequently makes up excuses that certain errors with his projects is due to our in-house program and not him. I use the same program as him and though said program can act funny at times, we are able to check the finalized PDF printout before turning in said project. If said errors are popping up, he's probably not checking the finalized printout.

He also frequently place blame with our clients when they enter information incorrectly. Some clients are difficult to work with and they frequently make changes to their projects but some clients are simply clueless about the standards for some of the stuff we do and it is up to us to correct that and ensure said client uses what is standard. Instead he just goes with whatever the clients entered and if we later find out said information is incorrect and need to change it, he place the blame on the clients.

We all occasionally have casual non-work related conversations when working but we keep it to just coworkers in the immediate vicinity and we try and keep it short. He will walk several cubicles over to have a conversations for 20+ minutes and after he's done, he'll sometime walk over to another cubicle and repeat that conversation. After all this, he'll later make up excuses that he's getting interrupted with phone calls and changes from clients about why some of his projects are delayed.

At this point I'm just ranting but like I said, he's not entirely lazy and he is good with the work our company do. But many of times we gotta deal with him acting like a man-child, placing blame on the in-house program or our clients instead of manning up and accepting he made the mistake, expecting clients to catch his mistakes and using the excuse that our clients approved a project when it comes back later to be fixed, etc. etc.
