The first few episodes were a bit over-the-top with the ridiculous life-or-death situations they were constantly in. Then the pacing and overall feel of the show gets better as the season goes on.

this. It starts great but all of the conflict is driven by poor and outright stupid character choices and a villain who seems to be evil for no fucking reason

It doesn't really help that most of the family come off as pretty unlikable

Ugh the more I think about it the more I hate Smith. Despite her having all the screentime ever, I can barely come up with anything that changes about the episode if she just isn't there. Will doesn't get to showcase his innocent loving nature (which has already been established anyway), is the only thing I can think of.

Mom has to use extra muscle at the end. Or better yet, Dad shows up to help instead.

And holy hell at mom and Smith's discussion about the printer. "I know it was you." "But it wasn't." "Oh. Never mind, I trust you again."
