Much like Star Wars and Final Fantasy. As long as II is dead last, I'm not arguing.

move all remaining groundhog mercenaries to the front lines. Have sheep troopers squadrons A and B flank the cows. They're using DC-17 hoof blasters.

I agree. From a raw technical perspective I think it's the most refined out of all of them, and I can't comment on the PVP, but the level design is like halfway between 1 and 3, the bosses aren't as inspired as in DS1 or the DS2 DLC, and the plot is kind of a mess because it's trying to wrap up something that I don't think was ever designed to have a conclusion.

Best one mechanically. 1 has the best world and atmosphere, BY FAR. 2 is... Somewhere in the middle. It's a little better than one when it comes to controls, imo, and the world is more open than 3. It sticks with the "choose your own path" approach that 1 has, which is a huge plus, but many of the areas just aren't memorable for me. 3 has superior gameplay/aesthetics (imo), and has memorable areas, but the choice of direction was extremely streamlined. You pretty much just went one way, with only a handful of instances of choosing your own path.

The dream was that the remaster of the first game was going to have the engine of 3. That would have been amazing.

Tbh, I would've liked seeing the remaster use Unreal Engine. Would've been a game worth picking for me if it did.

Also with regard to DS2, it has by far the best DLC if we wanted to praise it for anything.

I enjoyed the speedier, more visceral combat it gained from Bloodborne.

Bloodborne did it better, though.

DS2 DLC is the only Soulsborne content I haven't beat. DS2 was the first one I beat too. But I went to ng+ after it frustrated me so much and have yet to make it back to it

Hub and spokes level design after DS1
Nonsensical area transitions just so they can have every "level type"
Poor enemy placement and difficulty as a factor of quantity not quality
Mediocre NPCs with nonsense motivations
Broken weapon durability system
Over nerfing pyromancy

The game director himself said he based DS3's combat on Bloodborne's, with a desire to improve on BB's limitations.

But I'm sure you know more about DS3 than Hidetaka Miyazaki.

That quote isn't saying anything about bringing what exists in Bloodborne over to Dark Souls. He is saying that the limited variety of Bloodborne made him want to go back to Dark Souls and provide even more variety than it already had over Bloodborne

The article actually just reinforces my point, so thanks for that.
