Isnt Tumblr the thing that ruined Arrow because of all of the Olicity fangirls posting crap on there....then the former show runner Guggenheim started pandering to them and made the show about that romance instead of the plot?

Show got better, after he left, at any rate. Season 7 has been pretty good. The first several episodes centered around Slabside Prison were great

Porn has been dead on Tumblr for like a year or more, the website has been flooded with porn bots. Anyone's best bet was to follow a handful of blogs that consistently posted decentish material, but I feel like all of the niche stuff ended up being co-opted by all of those "You like Janet?? FUCK HER TODAY!!" bot posts.

There are boorus and tube sites that do a more varied and broad selection of genres. One of the most prominent social media sites around - at least, from the last time I saw it - has specialised porn boards that deal in specific fetishes and niches. Throw a stone on the internet and you'll hit porn, unless you've been following specific NSFW artists or whatever - relying on Tumblr after the bits watered down the porn supply is kind of weaksauce. Unless you're a MAP who flew under the radar for entirely too long, which I could honestly see.

Edit: I wouldn't implore you to seek pornography, as to keep in the good graces of the moderation staff - I'm just saying that if your only outlet for weird porn shit is Tumblr, then you've been backing a dead horse for way too long.

Anyway Tumblr isn't dead yet, it'll go on for a good while. I'd like to say that it's got a couple decent years left on it, look at fanfiction.net and how long it's survived after it pissed off people with its own purge - but I'll be a bit more cautious and say that it's got at least another year left in its sails.

It's worth staying on the site because shit is well and truly going to flip when the site finally dies. The memes that came out of the NSFW purge were on point, and today's Fingers In His Ass Sunday/Energy Sword Sunday crossover was sick.

I've started following any of the NSFW blogs that have Twitter accounts but that's a small handful of my favorite people. And scrolling through Twitter just isn't as fluid and Tumblr.

I feel so bad for all of art!Tumblr and commission Tumblr. They were just out there living their lives only to get popped like this.

i'm an aesthetic blogger

i'm only really offended that classical artwork and fine art photography would be considered adult content, but otherwise i'm not too bothered since i try to minimize the amount of porn / tasteless nudity that shows up on my feed

It was a few things. CP was a big reason, what with the recent discovery of - and backlash against - "Minor Attracted People", or MAPs. But the website's porn bot problem was also pretty massive - to the point that I would call it one of the major reasons that the app got taken down, porn bots circumventing the Tumblr marking system and mass-reblogging posts all across the platform, potentially exposing underage users to pornographic content.

Tumblr's NSFW ban is essentially to try and cripple an issue that they let proliferate in the first place. It's an extreme last-ditch effort to get back into the good graces of the App Store, because they blew it hard enough to be unlisted in the first place.

There isn't really a place to seamlessly move between erotica posts though, much less media with erotic captions. Reducing NSFW tumblr to just pics and gifs is leaving out a whole lot of the appeal.

Not the full story. The CP issue/getting removed from the App Store sped up a process that Tumblr had been working on for months.

A former staff engineer, who recently left Tumblr and asked to remain anonymous for professional reasons, tells Vox that the NSFW ban was "in the works for about six months as an official project," adding that it was given additional resources and named "Project X" in September, shortly before it was announced to the rest of the company at an all-hands meeting. "[The NSFW ban] was going to happen anyway," the former engineer told me. "Verizon pushed it out the door after the child pornography thing and made the deadline sooner," but the real problem was always that Verizon couldn't sell ads next to porn.

Porn on Tumblr is something Verizon needs to wipe out if it's going to make any money off what it thinks is actually valuable about the platform - enormous fandom and social justice communities that, just before the Verizon acquisition, Khalaf was insisting the staff figure out how to better monetize.

On that note-

Two former Tumblr employees said they were alarmed when Khalaf chose Black Lives Matter as an example of a community that the company should focus on converting into Yahoo media consumers. One told The Verge, "Simon explicitly said that Black Lives Matter was an opportunity to [make] a ton of money."

When you click report and highlight the blue (?) next to flaming that explains what is considered flaming it says, "Insulting other board users."
