Vermont once did a study on Walmart and found it has a 3:1 job displacement. In other words, when one opens up in a town, 3 jobs are destroyed for every one that the store creates. It's basically a small town killer.

That doesn't really have anything to do with the amount of jobs they offer. Has more to do with manufacturers cutting Wal-Mart a deal because they know they'll be able to move high volumes, and Wal-Mart subsequently jacking up the price to turn a profit

Did they also look at how much the average person saves by shopping there? Automated check outs also are job killers. Doesn't make them evil.
