I have a lot of sympathy for some Youtubers. I respect the content they make. Guys like Mark Brown, Hacksmith, and LGR come to mind. They actually do shit. They record, they edit, they script, they work on projects. Shit takes talent, effort, and $$$

People are unsympathetic to YouTubers, like "go and get a real job." But where do you go if you're in the online entertainment industry? It's not like YouTube has a real competitor. "Fuck this shit, I'm going to work at Dailymotion." People expect YouTubers to just abandon their entertainment career. But is that fair? Imagine if that attitude translated to your career. "You don't like the way the hospital is run, Doctor? Then get a real job at McDonalds then."

I think he might get more sympathy if YouTube is at the point where he no longer gets much money from them but I don't think he is there yet. He said a few weeks ago he makes six figures from it.

I don't think it's smart for anyone to treat YouTube earnings as a stable wage.

i think the problem is that youtubers arent really creating anything, they're just opportunists taking advantage of a semi-dying platform. if any of them were actual filmmakers or whatever they could find some sort of commercial success outside of one particular platform that feeds content to ppl

2. You lose interest in your content and fail to produce new material that is attractive to your audience.

3. YouTube, patreon, PayPal, Visa, stripe, Mastercard, etc. demonetizes, demotivates, or deplatforms you because they disapprove of your content. This could be taking ads off your videos, shadow banning you by stopping notifications for you videos or desubscribing people, or by kicking you off their sites entirely or threatening sites that give you a platform.
