It's a wonderful movement of empowerment and calling out wicked men who have gotten away with too much for too long.

Good intentions. Like anything, it could be used improperly if wielded by the wrong person.

It's done a lot of good, followed by a small amount of harm that will no doubt be inflated in this topic.

Still wondering why a celebrity's misdeeds should be made more publicly knowledgeable than a non celebrity.

A very, very small group. Overall the Metoo movement has been positive.

Its been so successful in exposing people who have taken advantage of others, that even some of the victims have been exposed as having taken advantage of others.

Same reason celebrity DUIs are more publicly knowledgeable - you're already famous.

A really important movement that took down pure scum during its early days. Like every other civil or social movement, obviously it trended negatively once the radicals gained traction over the moderate majority. Still very relevant though.

Me Too began in 2006 by Tarana Burke as a movement to empower women of color that have experienced sexual abuse. It was meant to provide a voice for the victims of sexual abuse in low-income and underprivileged communities.

In 2017, Alyssa Milano started using the Me Too phrase to encourage victims of sexual abuse and harrassment to share their stories and bring attention to how common the behavior is even when we don't realize it.

Unfortunately, the recent movement seems to only highlight victims that are in the upper echelon. It ignores the people that the original movement was meant to focus on. Though, I don't think Alyssa Milano had that intention in mind and I believe that she probably knew of Tarana Burke when she tweeted the phrase.

Overall, I think the movement has done a lot of good in exposing some people in high places, but I think it needs to also look at those victims in underpriveleged communities as well.

Can people just not learn to put down the fucking tabloids or click the links or subscribe to tabloid social media? Like, seriously...I guess that's my issue.

There should be levels to it like with other crimes. Aziz Ansari shouldn't be lumped in with Bill Cosby just like how shoplifters aren't lumped in with armed robbery.

It is sad the MeToo movement groups all sex offenders into one category and the punishment is the same for all of them.

Homer Simpson said it best, "if celebrities didn't want people pawing through their garbage, and saying they're gay, they shouldn't have tried to express themselves creatively."

The idea of encouraging people to speak out is good. The idea of instantly believing them and casting everyone into oblivion is not good. Each needs to be a case by case basis where people are judged on actual facts and not just the words of people. You cannot stop an employer from distancing themselves from the accused, but it would be much better if the Twitter mob didn't demand their heads and nuts on a platter within ten minutes.
