Hello B8. Pardon the unusual topic during contest season, but I suspect you may be a humorous and crazy enough group of people to assist with this question.

Im trying to launch a writers group/club of sorts with some people I know who also enjoy writing, and Im trying to work out rules for the group.

The kinds of things wed be writing are short, so were looking to maybe do a piece a month.

The current idea is: post your idea for what you want to write this month by the end of the first full week of the month, have it written by the end of the third full week of the month, and someone will be assigned to give you notes by the last day of the month. So, three deadlines: idea, story, and notes.

Heres where you all come in: to keep people motivated to adhere to the schedule, Im thinking there should be penalties for failing to meet a deadline. Nothing truly punitive, but stuff that will keep the group fun and keep people writing. For example, failing to meet a deadline might result in the group collectively deciding on a prompt for you next month (and with this group of people, theres no telling what bizarre stuff that could turn into).

Does anyone have any suggestions for other potential penalties of this nature?
