Once installed, the malware asks the user for permission to Enable Statistics. This innocent sounding function actually allows the malware, and its creators, to receive notifications when the user is interacting with certain apps, and inspect the content of the window theyre interacting with. In other words, this allows the cybercriminals to take control of the phone remotely when the user opens certain apps.

why does this setting name have nothing to do with what it actually does and why is this setting something easily toggleable by the user in the first place

I'm also confused about how they determined that receiving notifications and looking at the user's screen is the same thing as remotely controlling the device.
