i tend to agree, but IMO it is much more lucrative to invest money into console gaming rather than PC gaming because the stuff you'd need for console gaming (nice TV, surround sound, furniture, etc) is more applicable to stuff outside of gaming

The corollary of this pattern is that PC gamers are equally vastly superior to Console gamers in terms of cellulite and ginormous body mass.

PC gaming is great, but it's a steeper time/financial investment than just buying a console.

Also if you're building it yourself, there's more room for you to fuck something up.

It has a higher barrier of entry if you want the best of the best. It's more costly than consoles unless you settle for the mediocre. It's easier for incompatibilities to screw things up depending on the game and computer specs. It's not simply plug and play. Not every game will be better on PC if they were built for console. It's better in terms graphical potential and power, but it's not better for everyone.

This is the dealbreaker for me.

With a console, all you have to do is match the logo.

You don't have to worry about whether a Turbocore 1151 is equivalent to the Sweetgarfix 960 listed on the box.

Is that it? Well geewiz, guess I was wrong.

You get a manual per part and most manuals dont provide specific wiring diagrams. Even if they did provide you with a detailed manual on how to put together your specific pc then youd still need a certain technical aptitude to read it. I mean, how many videos are there on thermal paste application? A million? And yet people continually fuck it up. And on the subject of manuals, the last motherboard I bought from MSI didnt even have certain pin layouts in the book. I had to scan a QR code in the book to get the diagram. Not sure how much money MSI saved by emitting that one piece of paper. So manuals arent always that great.

You can connect your PC to all that stuff and game from the couch PC gaming too. The great thing about the PC is you have the choice to sit on the couch and use a controller, or sit at a desk and use your mouse and keyboard. You'll also have a better experience using your brand new 4K TV to game with a PC. This is assuming you spent the money on a GPU or two, though, which is really pricey.

PC gamers only like to constantly remind console gamers that PC is better to justify them spending 2-3x (or more) the amount of their PC than the console gamer did on their console. Slightly better graphics does not make that much more money worth it.

It's not slightly better depending on the setup. And it can do way more than a console can.

That said, I love my PC but I also love my PS4. I prefer having both.

I mean, really, if you factor in that you were probably going to buy a non-gaming laptop or desktop in the next couple of years anyway, then the price almost works out to being about equal. You're just paying more upfront.

3 to 5 year purchases...

$500 non-gaming PC
$300 console
$300 for 5 years Plus
------------------------------
$1,100 Total

You can do a lot in the PC market space for $1,100. For $1,500 you can walk away with a nice 1080p, 60FPS build (and I mean monitor, keyboard, everything.)

You can't but at least consoles used to have certain advantages. Nowadays they are trying so hard to be like PC's but still wanting to maintain absolute control over the system it boggles my mind why anyone would still want a console.

PC: I pay for internet and I can play online games freely without paying more often on dedicated game servers.
Consoles: Pay for internet, pay Sony, MS, Nintendo even more for permission to use shitty P2P connections with other players. Gee, thanks...
