My point is it's not people bitching just because there's "wimmin" in the game. I'm sure there's a few sexist idiots sure, but by and far the big and legitimate complaint is it completely breaks the immersion.

I think if they had just made female playable characters without any of the fanfare, especially cyborg lady, it wouldn't have been received negatively by the gaming populous. That's the difference between pandering and just putting shit in the game. Like the dumb comment from a developer who didn't want to explain to his daughter why women didn't fight in WWII or something to that effect.

People aren't upset beacsue we hate women, fuck's sake. They're upset because while not always historically accurate, most CoD/Battlefield/MoH games are known for their immersion to the period. Having a bunch of women by your side on D Day kind of kills that immersion.

This post nails it.

Also there's a difference between being historically accurate and authentic. MOH and COD obviously couldn't be 100% accurate, but they could be authentic to the period

Historical fiction doesn't exist in your corner of reality? Cause when most people see a movie where the Nazis fled to the moon to build a secret bunker and wait until modern times to strike with spaceships, most people think it's pretty interesting.

Its a disturbing trend, Battlefield V is the first video games in 15 years to fail peer review. Pretty soon, children wont be able to use video games to supplement their education

How do women ruin WW2 but Germans using Lee Einfields and BARs do not?

Because the average person is more likely to know that women couldnt enlist vs the types of weapons exclusively used by Germans in WWII and women running into battle during the Bay of Pigs Invasion is a little more obviously clashing with the atmosphere.

Battlefield 5 failed because it's a low-effort game with no content compared to Battlefield 1 nor inspiration. It's as obligatory as one can get.

Their crusade to put representation at the forefront to mask this lack of effort just made it even worse

The game failed before it was released. Pre-orderers were way down from BF1 which wasn't that great either and with terrible PR and a terrible trailer which turned off and confused people. The lack of content upon release was just an added kick in the teeth to hardcore fans.

I don't think the US had any females in combat roles. Though we did have some female operatives who conducted ops for the OSS.

Yeah, it was mainly just the U.S./British/Free French who didn't let women serve in combat. Russia, the Finns, the Maquis, they cared if you could kill Germans, not if you had breasts.
