I have not watched it in forever, but it looks like they are really pushing that division now.

WWE puts the exact bare minimum they need to in order to pretend they care about the womens division.

They care only barely more than they did a decade ago, and it still 99% revolves around whatever blonde they happen to care about at the moment. Ronda Rousey is there now, so its got more eyes on it, and WWE needs to pretend they put the slightest bit of effort into it.

In short, WWE has moved from 1% effort in their womens division to 5% effort in their womens division. Its only about 10% effort for the best in the mens division, so take it for what its worth.

In general, the actual wrestling ability of the women's division has become so much better in the past few years. The matches have been great, and they've been using gimmick matches formerly reserved for the men (Ladder, Hell In A Cell, Elimination Chamber, etc.) for the women as well. But it's only been this year, with the interlocking feuds involving Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey, and Nia Jax, that WWE has been able to get the booking of the women's division up to par with the match quality. Sure, you still have some throwaway feuds and bad ideas like Ruby Riot breaking Natalya's sunglasses for heel heat... but when it comes to the actual title feuds, they've been on point.

Becky is pretty much a female Stone Cold who just wants to kick someone's ass, any time any place. Charlotte plays a fantastic heel but has a gimmick that still lets her act smug even when playing a face, and Ronda is just a straight-up badass who has become way better in the ring than anyone ever expected her to be. Then you factor in other talented wrestlers on the roster like Asuka and Naomi, and the various women they have down in NXT like Shayna Baszler and Io Shirai... WWE's women's division has IMO never been better.

The Man is fucking great. But I still wonder how the fuck we haven't gotten the REAL Sasha Banks on the main roster yet. How anyone can look at her work in NXT and not realize she is money is beyond me.

I want the chick talking mad smack and making little girls cry. Not this weird friendship is magic loser we have now.

Its leagues better than it was 5+ years ago, unless you were into watching the bra & panty matches exclusively. The in-ring stuff is greatly improved by most of the women wrestlers (there are definitely still a few bad ones).

If you are interested, here is a match between two of their best talents, Asuka & Ember Moon, at NXT (WWEs developmental brand). The background is that Asuka is the champ and has been for a record reign. Ember Moon has been her toughest challenger, and Asuka beat her during their first encounter, although it took some lowballed tactics (something unusual from Asuka, who normally just would beat up her opponents):
