This stuff

5QLXlUK

That's gonna be one of 8-13 courses, each one paired with a glass of wine. By the time you're finished you're going to be satisfied (if not full) and slightly pissed drunk, unless you're a competitive strongman or something.

As for "overpriced", well that's just a matter of perceived value isn't it? You're gonna say that's overpriced but I guarantee you have some toy in your house that cost $300 and you definitely did not need. You just liked it so you bought it, and that's fine.

When you see these pics and make a throwaway comment about how this isn't food, you're really just outing yourself as a pleb.

pinky, you aren't respectable enough to eat at fancy restaurants. They probably "serve" you outside in the alleyway. Of course, homeless people will try and still your food.

You can reuse those "toys" but if you blow hundreds on a meal, you're just making expensive literal shit after a short hour or so of perhaps pleasurable dining. I'd much rather learn to make it myself for a fraction of the cost. I learn a useful skill and save tons.

But it's not rabbit food. Multiple that amount by 13 and with 1-2 bottles of wine = it's a large meal.

Also these aren't mutually exclusive. Kind of like how you can say you prefer a night in watching netflix but sometimes it's fun to go to the cinema, even if it's a bit expensive.

I don't even remember the last time I ate in a restaurant. Years and years ago, with my best friend and her best friend. We used to eat out every few weeks. I've been too poor to eat out since maybe 2013 (although I didn't have many friends just before that, anyway).

I miss the days of rich people eating at nice restaurants, then refusing to leave tips, and getting named and shamed on the internet. This happened sometimes back in the early 2010s. Why did it stop? Did we stop hating rich jerks or something?

I'd say if you like food then it's worth doing at least once. You might hate it. You might think it overpriced. But it's an experience, and at least you can say "I did that, and it wasn't for me", instead of "I don't know what that is but I hate it so much", which is the default position for a lot of people

To be fair, I much prefer buying stuff I can use again and again. I've felt like this pretty much my whole adulthood. I mean...if I were to spent 50 on a game, I could play it on and off for years...whereas, I might pay 50 for a nice meal, and then it's gone within a few hours.

This is going to sound wild and a bit alarming but hear me out for a second

Vegetables won't kill you

In fact sometimes they're quite tasty

and having them doesn't mean you can't also have steak later

Look, if this kind of eating isn't something you think you would enjoy spending money on that's fair enough, don't expect you to like something. Just you know...say you don't like it, don't get upset that other people do and act like it's an affront to you personally.

Alright but that's a slightly unfair reduction on what this about and what people pay for. You're paying a lot of money to eat food made by a highly skilled chef that's unique and unlike anything you would have eaten before, using techniques and equipment that you simply don't have access to. it's more akin to going to the theatre than it is to filling your stomach out of any utilitarian purpose.

If you find that's something you're not remotely interested in that's also fair enough. But that is what you're paying for.

Home cinemas are generally cost prohibitive and still nowhere near the experience you get at watching a blockbuster on a screen the size of a house. You know this and you are definitely just being contrary.

The simple point being made here is that there are certain experiences you can't recreate at home. This is obviously true regardless of how much you want to find holes in each given simile.

You absolutely can make this food at home. They're not sorcerers, the food comes from Earth. Will you be able to arrange it or make it the exact same way? Depends on your skill, but is that really worth hundreds of dollars per session?

No, for the most part you cannot, even with all the skill in the world. I know this because I used to live with one of these fancy assed chefs. You just do not have the equipment at hand to do this in any ordinary home kitchen.

Even proper stir fry can't be done at home, and that stuff is cheap street food.

Cheaper than going to the cinema each time, plus you can rewatch as much as you want, use it for all TV viewing and gaming, and resell when you're done. Plus you don't have to deal with annoying people in the audience.

You'll get no argument from me here, you're right about all of these points. And yet despite this I still go to the cinema occasionally. Why is that? Could it be that it's a different experience to watching a movie at home?

Like I said, these things are not mutually exclusive. All you have to admit is that they're different. I know you can do it.
