And the weirdest part is that the Rabbids fit so perfectly into Mario's universe, but are just enough "off" and kind of perverse to make it all the funnier.

The fact that it's guns, XCOM strategy, uncharacteristically violent for a Mario game, and sort of dark (the selfie with the dying boss) just kind of... Works?

Easily one of the best games on the Switch. I really hope we get a sequel.

Scary how well it works. I really liked the game. Super fun. Feels smooth but tbh, a lot of Nintendo games feel smooth.

I remember reading a discussion with the director and he mentioned the first time Miyamoto saw Mario with a gun. The devteam was convinced he was going to flip his shit, but his only response was "Shouldn't this cause some recoil?"

How is that game?

It's like if Pixar (Nintendo) and Dreamworks (Whomever makes the Rabbids games) joined forces for one movie that included the best parts of each.

I've never played the XCOM games but it is really really easy to get the hang of.

The storyline is unique enough with a helper robot who is quite frankly hilarious. The Rabbids in their Mario Universe persona also have pretty unique personalities, especially Rabbid Peach.

It reminds me a little of Super Mario RPG for good and the bad. I wish there were not limits to the party. (Mario and one Rabbid being required is cumbersome). The weapon variety is really balanced and each person gets their just due (although Peach is OP).

There is also one of my all time favorite bosses in the entirety of the Mario franchise in this game. Tom Phan aka Phantom

I like the running gag of Mario and Luigi not really knowing how to respond to the Rabbids

The one thing I've noticed is that the combat is much more aggressive than XCOM, and it gets surprisingly unforgiving if you play too defensively. That's kind of the opposite approach to XCOM.
