https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/mbkgy8/why-college-campuses-can-be-minefields-for-some-comedians

"VICE News went to Boston to talk to three campus bookers the college comedy gatekeepers who contend that theyre merely reflecting student taste.

They say old-school comedians are woefully behind the times and need to acknowledge that certain jokes, particularly those about identity and sexual assault, can potentially cause psychological harm. And its their job, they say, to protect students from it.
"

Like I said, averagejoel is simply making things up. He's doing this weird thing that people on both ideological sides do when people say they are experiencing something and say "Oh no, they just don't understand what is happening." Averagejoel is not a comedian. He has no idea what comedians experience. He has no reason to. But because he needs to believe that the comedians are mistaken about a phenomenon that they are experiencing, he asserts that they are not experiencing it.

There is a fundamental difference between a joke not being funny and people not laughing, and people saying a joke shouldn't have been said. One is "wow that set was a disaster", and the other is an article in Slate or the Huffington Post. smh

believe it or not, this does not really contradict what I said

now please don't @ me again

The worse the better. If I can say damn that's fucked up, then it's usually pretty funny. But I have some thick skin so it's cool.

If someone's soul is so brittle that a comedy routine will cause them physiological harm, they probably shouldn't watch comedy shows. In comedy nothing is off the table.

Comedy is 100% about pacing and flow. If you add something like "sensitivity training" you're taking that flow and fucking it up. A good comedian knows where the line is drawn and will walk you across it like a tightrope. Any outside input will destroy the art.

Or be Bill Burr and insult Philly while in Philly until they cheer for you

Offensive jokes are fine with me. The problem is when those jokes appear to be the comedians actual opinions and not just poking fun at something without regard for social etiquette.

You can almost NEVER tell that by a comedian's routine. I know a lot of them, and you would be surprised how often they believe the complete opposite of what they say on stage

Because no one is homophobic anymore?

https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2015/07/31/kevin-hart-addresses-joke-about-not-wanting-gay-son/

He said: Its about my fear. Im thinking about what I did as a dad, did I do something wrong, and if I did, what was it? Not that Im not gonna love my son or think about him any differently.

The funny thing within that joke is its me getting mad at my son because of my own insecurities I panicked. It has nothing to do with him, its about me.

Thats the difference between bringing a joke across thats well thought-out and saying something just to ruffle feathers.

He addressed it very well 3 years ago and yet...people like you are still offended.

Answer in general though. Remove these jokes. Is Kevin Hart outdated and ild fashioned?

Guessing no since he is in new movies and his career is booming.

So YOU are being very very disingenous especially since you ignored the rest of my post that proved your assertion in corr ect.

because homophobia is lame and played out, and so are jokes that express homophobic sentiment

Comedy has literally gone full circle and the only acceptable kind of comedy is "why did the chicken cross the road" jokes. Its sad
