I would say everything except the final season has good moments, but with the benefit of hindsight, the show only has two truly good SEASONS and one of those is still saddled with some bullshit sideplots.

Dexter in its best seasons was cool but not living up to its potential. Dexter in its worst seasons was so awful that it retroactively makes even the good stuff not worth watching.

It was basically the exact same plot every season but with a couple of new characters each time. Season 5 was terrible so I gave up on the show halfway through that season. I read how the show ended and Im glad I didnt keep watching because the last season wouldve really pissed me off lol

I don't regret having seen it. The first 4 seasons are great, which is half the show. That's a lot of good. And the rest are dumb but still entertaining. I've honestly not gone back to the show or even considered it a lot, but when I think about the ending, I feel like maybe the fans overreacted. It's fine.

The final season of Breaking Bad aired the same time the final season of Dexter did and I remember it seeming like it was almost on purpose

One show demonstrating how to pay off years of careful buildup into perfect, devastating chaos

And one show demonstrating how to pussy out of every big development youve set up and just absolutely shart your pants

Its not fine TBH. It was probably the worst TV Ive ever seen, at least from a show that was ever considered good.

Anyone who considers watching it should stop after 4 but I would honestly almost recommend just stopping after 1 and treating it like a mini-series. Season 1 was the only truly consistently good season, 4 was low key kind of a mess but carried by a legendary guest performance

Tbh having watched that season live, I loved all that. It was such a cool concept but yeah they dropped it so unsatisfyingly

IIRC the actor who played him got on another show and they had to drop a bunch of shit they had planned for him
