Occasionally I'll have a tap open up that wants me to for example, update Windows. It seems to be some type of virus/malware thing. Never had this issue with chrome, but chrome was freezing so I moved to firefox.

Never and I use Firefox on both my work and home computers. You're either going to sketchy sites or already infected.

When that happened before, Norton never popped up and I ran malware bytes and nothing was found

Look through your plugins/addons. Sometimes shit gets installed without your consent.

Norton has been awful for a long time and Malware Bytes doesn't scan for a lot of things including viruses. It's good at what it does, it just doesn't look for everything like some people think.

When downloading stuff, some people host it on sketchy servers. It's not actual malware, but a phishing scam. There are browser addons that prevent the sketchy content loading.

Time is a funny thing. There is always too much of it, except when you need it the most. Then there is never enough.
