These men are consenting adults. If they want to give money to some girls on Twitch/Patreon then let them. The girls aren't monsters. Girls provide a bit of happiness to these emotionally vulnerable men and the girls get money in return. These girls also do requests and send out little gifts.

It's a bit of a paradox for me. Adults can make decisions for themselves. If they admit they can't, they really shouldn't have most other rights that come with being an adult, but that's a whole legal can of worms, so essentially, I think we let stupid people get themselves in trouble to preserve freedom.

It's a bit of a paradox for me. Adults can make decisions for themselves. I think there's a difference between being promised something and having that promise reneged ("dumb teens in porn") and being given something and making further assumptions about that thing (assuming you have something deeper with your favorite streamer).

In the former case, there is more than likely some manipulation and deception involved.

Not so in the latter. Being pretty and having an attractive personality is not manipulation.

If there are twitch streamers promising more and reneging on it, that's one thing, and I'm sure there's an example or two, but all this stream drama is 99% on the person who made assumptions, expected more from the streamer, and is disappointed that the streamer never actually even offered it.

They actually do exist, but are a very small industry. The cultural difference between Asia and America seems to play a big factor there. It's really a lot more than that. They are true masters of conversation. They don't just ask us how our work was, they talk about everything. Thankfully the coworkers I go with are all decent guys (and sometimes gals actually) and don't make dirty jokes the whole time. But I mean in general the attention I get from women I am dating and what you get at a host club are on another level. Meanwhile people in America are paying some streamer who has to pay attention to dozens of people at once and is about as good at conversation as a random person off the street. Just seems like a bad deal. I mean we know most of the hostesses are married or in a relationship or whatever, but there is no illusion you will be dating them. The whole thing is just so professional.

Yeah, when you make things up, I guess it does sound pretty bad.

I was in town for a different reason and asked if she wanted to hang out. Her bf came along to make sure that I wasn't an Internet weirdo or someone making assumptions. We all had dinner together. They paid for theirs. I paid for mine. After that, her bf left us assured that I wasn't going to hurt her or anything, and she and I hung out for a few more hours. And in the multiple times we've hung out since, the bf didn't feel he needed to come along.

She was then and remains now a good friend.

EDIT: Oh and this was years before she started streaming anyway.

That wasn't the reason I was in town. I was actually in town to see a taping of the Colbert Report. Other times we've hung out included for New York Comic-Con.

The people who spend copious hours watching game streams are not the types who have their social lives well put together. They're shut ins and socially awkward people with very few, if any real life friends. So they tune into streamers to fill in that void of a companionship. So streamers soliciting money from their viewers teeters a gray line of being crowd sponsored on one side and straight up taking advantage of them. It's one thing where you have a donation button saying "Help me improve my work, I would like donations for better equipment, etc." but some streamers would offer the incentive of giving them attention, whether saying a spectator's name in a shout out or answering their question, for a donation, basically monetizing social interaction with streamers. That right there is literal taking advantage of them.

And that girl in that pic knew fully well she was deceiving them by hiding her marital status. She is in no way a victim.

You don't have to feel pity, but some people actually go "good for her" because she managed to manipulate fools into giving her thousands of dollars. This isn't behavior that should be congratulated.

The last bit had me howling mate. There is no deceiving at all or any shadiness. Its literally

-girl plays video games, donating money is an option yet there is zero pressure to do so.

- girl playing video games might offer incentives like shout outs, but very doubtful theres any incentive along the lines of $x and Ill have sex with you, Im single, catch is you pay for your own travel.

- shut in decides that a shout out is worth a monetary value to some degree and pays for it. Receives a shout out and is disappointed he didnt get laid, she has a husband/boyfriend and they probably wont ever meet her.

Theres no shadiness or scam. The people who pay walk right into this themselves. It humors me that people in this thread think that girl streamers having a significant other is deceptive..... hilarious as its not crazy to think those same people are the same people donating then getting all pissy when they realize they paid money and there was no actual offer of sex, meeting them, them being single, or whatever.

It was merely a donation, as in, you donate money with no promise of receiving anything for it. Then they are mad they did not receive anything.
