Personally, I use an adblocker, and I'd be willing to pay that as an alternative way of supporting the site. I also have the "allow non-intrusive ads" option enabled, but it seems most of GameFAQs' ads don't qualify.

What will it do that Adblock Plus won't?

more customization, better features, blocks more ads than adblock plus, and it also gets rid of those "disable adblock" pop-ups.

ABP became it's own ad network.

Also UBO is quite a bit leaner and uses less resources.

My understanding is they only allow non-intrusive ads. Like on GameFAQs, I see the Amazon shop now ad at the bottom, but all the others are hidden (and from what I've seen in screenshots, I can see why).

I like this option. Does uBlock have something similar, or is it an unconditional "block everything"?

GameFAQs has given me countless hours of entertainment. Churches just... exist.

You can muck around in the filters, I guess.

Incidentally, NoScript is one of the best ad-blockers out there. That's the threshold of "acceptable ads".

Nah, ads don't need to get anywhere near using scripts to be unacceptable.

Oh fine. Less-likely-to-be-asolute-computer-herpes ads then.

When your ad-provider tells you you stick a script tag in the header, you've given up any real control of your site's advertising. There's no way to know what's going to be in there, after the army of brokers and middlemen and middlemen brokers have gotten their claws into it.
