The GOP unquestionably gerrymanders House districts and stuff, but you can't really gerrymander a statewide election.

The skew between the Dems and GOP is just a natural way of how the vote distributes between urban/suburban/rural

Actually a lot more blue states were up for election. The Democrats won 22 states and the Republicans won 11. That explains the vote difference.

Republicans also flipped four states while Democrats only flipped two.
