Never heard of that show. It does sound a lot like another show that was on in the 80s with a strikingly similar title. It was about a teenager (or pre-teen, I can't remember), with a more pop-rock opening instead of the 50s camp opening. I think she might have been an alien or something.

Small Wonder lasted four seasons. It was VERY popular among kids.
With that said, yes, it could easily fly in today's environment. Kids would like it.
Unfortunately, I can see adult SJWs attacking the show over stupid stuff.
But I think it would be a success due to kids liking it.

On a side note, Nostalgia Critic did a funny retrospective on it (he doesn't like the show very much, but doesn't completely hate it either)

Yeah, I remember OOTW. That was on the air right about the time I was beginning to "notice" girls, and Maureen Flannigan was cute AF to me.

Also, LOL at the credits in that video calling her "Maureen Flanniga".
