You had control of what you updated, and would not force you. Just ask anyone what they would say if you rammed anything down their throats (literally) and I would assure you the answer would not likely be positive.

Hey, some people might be into that, there's no reason to kink-shame ;)

Really? Thats your logic?

Do you really need the petty power of what updates your system does or does not do? You want to spout this stuff over a power trip your have with your computer?

I have not seen nor heard of any update for windows 10 professionally or personally that has caused issues like you are imagining.

Being up to date is a good thing. Im going to keep saying it in defense of your odd stance on this

idk, being on lower firmwares for game systems is better because it's easier to allow entry to custom firmware. If you don't care about that then updates are vaguely better but even that depends because updates have crashed even casual user's devices.

Malwarebytes are nagware today, but they pop under, meaning you do not lose control of your active window, if you're playing Stepmania for example, it will not be interrupted, however you will be distracted.

MS updates however, do indeed, pop over, and become the predominant window, and if you accidentally click "update now" your only defense is to hold the power button down.

Thats why I say on the whole.

People wanting custom firmware is a very niche thing and it only affects them.

Computers/Software being out of date has lead to most of the major data breaches we have had this decade.

I find it interesting that you want me to leave so you can continue to be on this path like its the righteous one with no resistance to your ideas.

The only thing I cant actively get rid of on windows 10 is the pop up for not having a Microsoft account. Which happens maybe once a day and then its gone. And it doesnt interrupt my games either.

The updates my system needs only happen when I shutdown and they dont annoy me beforehand hand.

Im also puzzled why bandwidth would be an issue. Are you talking about the actual file sizes? Or caps by your ISP?

Oh, business computers/software need to be updated for sure. The consumer end is where it gets iffy since updates can mess up even a casual user's patterns. However, if you're not using custom firmware and the like for the most part you're right that you shouldn't be too out of date.

This is a matter of them forcing it upon users who do not want it. And it's not niche.

Mint is my current darling

If you want, ZorinOS is designed to look and behave as much like windows as possible and integrates WINE directly into the Shell so you can run windows apps just by clicking on them (doesn't always work, but they get pretty close)
