currently, i'm using an old MSI Nvidia Geforce GTX 770, and it's getting to the point where it struggles with some games.

is it as simple as: the bigger the number, the better it is?
is something like 1060 or 1070 good, or should i just go all out?

3 GB, 6 GB, 8 GB memory size, does that make any real difference?

1060 3GB can handle pretty much anything at 1080p ultra-high, and some games even at 4K ultra-high. (Haven't tried 1440p, I'd imagine it handles most things.)

It's up to you whether that's good enough or you want more than that. 1060 6GB isn't much more expensive so might be worth at least grabbing that.
