I have a theory that it could possibly be due to the divide between empiricism and rationalism. Rationalists generally respect him for his ability to abstract and combine knowledge from multiple domains. On the other hand empiricists generally can't stand knowledge formulated in this way, they only fully respect claims which are gleaned through narrow branches of science, so when he occasionally makes claims which are metaphorically true (wisdom) and mostly but not entirely scientific (technical knowledge) they are quick to criticise him. This is possibly the same reason philosophers like Alan Watts and Terence McKenna weren't always respected by empiricist/analytic types.

When he talks about "psychology" to the public, he is talking outside his expertise, and is very often far removed from actual psychology.

I cant think of three reasons;
- He says purposefully controversial things to get clicks and sells books.
- He blatantly steals other people's ideas and sells them as his own.
- He's no different than a self-help guru except for the fact that his get-rich-quick scheme involves sympathizing with a violent political ideology.

Because a lot of young men have enjoyed his lectures, a large number of which are those "cool" conservatives that you see on 4chan (alt-lite). And also because he made his name opposing the Canadian transgender pronouns bill and has a few traditionalist views. The climate denialism is pretty bad though. Otherwise he's a pretty stock standard Canadian lefty, even talking about the problems of wealth inequality, stating that he identifies with the Liberal party, and having been involved with the NDP earlier in life.

The alt right hates him even more than the extreme left does. Vox Day just came out with his own book smearing JBP. They really don't like him because he's a stopper in the flow of people going that way and he's stealing people from the fringes.

But you have certain posters here that are clearly uninformed and on the fringes (it's no secret its the left on this board) spreading the same misinformation about him like they've always done. They have an opinion on him but don't know a damn thing or follow his work at all.

Certain posters who should know better. Some obviously can't know better, but there's a few smart enough in particular to know better than what they're doing when he comes up as a topic. Really makes you wonder about them.

if youre just cherry picking comments to cry over then yea, youre a "delicate extremist".

I'm not 'cherry picking'.

I pointed out what I don't like him;
- He sells faux-philosophies to impressionable young men to try and push a political agenda.
- He has a shaky grasp of history and any discipline outside of his own.
- He purposefully says controversial things to get publicity.
- He steals ideas from others and repackages them to sell them.
- He's a massive hypocrite.

It has nothing to do with his particular brand of politics being different from mine.
