Republican, Denis Langlois is refusing to step down as Mayor of a Fort Ann after he said if any of his constituents vote for Democrats are ********!!

He faced backlash after posting the controversial remark on his facebook who says if anyone that votes Democrats should be taken to the mental health unit and to vote Republican and to "Keep America Great"

He insists people "misunderstood" what he said and will run for re-election in March

He says "I'm not a quitter and i won't quit for no reason. No one will make me quit. I won't quit. I took a job and i'll complete my job"

Denis said he wrote the message not as the mayor but as a "person" adding that most people don't even know he's a mayor.

Denis also tried to redefine the r-word and said it means "you're foolish" or "you're downright dumb"

Resident Katelyn White said he should consider broadening his vocabulary and that he doesn't represent the town and demanded he resign

The Ruderman Family Foundation, an organization that supports disability inclusion said his statement shows how US leaders fail to understand how such slurs impact people with disabilities and their families

He insists he didn't mean to offend anyone with his poor choice of words and now says he should have used mental health as he still believes what he believes in because he said liberals want to normalize "odd" behaviour including transgenders and gay relationships on tv and

Denis said "Trump is a REAL MAN and a "liberal man" is a *****" .

This feels like more of a clickbait title than usual, because from it I thought you meant the mayor of New York City. Maybe most people here know off the top of their head that Bill de Blasio is a Democrat, but I didn't.
