I loved college especially on the GI Bills dime, no real responsibility and I had a lot fun. Now that I'm back in the real world, I miss those days...

But yeah, that was a fun time even with work and school responsibilities. Pretty much all spare time went to goofing off with friends and no real significant responsibilities beyond the aforementioned work and school.

Obviously I love my wife and kid but that carefree time was pretty awesome.

It depends what type of college student you were. If you were broke, forced to essentially live off Ramen and live with a few people you don't know or don't like, don't have money to take trips with friends, go out, etc. then ya it can suck.

But if you had money, could eat whatever you wanted, travel with friends, go out whenever, work some bull shit part time job or not work at all, then college was probably pretty fun.

Going to the classes themselves and doing homework is much less than working a full time job, unless you have a very demanding major and a strict timeline for graduating. A lot of people can go to college "full time" and only have classes two or three days a week. And those classes only take up half the day.

Once you're out of college and land a good job, it's on to the 40-50 hour week grind (or more). No more summer breaks or long Christmas breaks. No more sleeping in unless it's the weekend. The only time you get off is the vacation time you're allotted.
