What an amazing misfire that was. It would have been fine if they took that loose shit they called a movie and released it closer to Maleificent and Alice in Wonderland and all those other CGI infested fairy tale cesspools.

Then you have people like Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Tilda Swinton, Ellen DeGeneres, etc., who were still able to further their careers as they aged. Most of them either did things outside of acting or were A-listers (or both) tho.

Oprah and Ellen brainwashed housewives for years and are charismatic

Colette, released this year, has an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and is basically considered a fantastic performance from her.

Imitation Game was wonderful and she was great in that.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World was surprisingly good (IMO) and she was great in that too.

She's been in a couple of largely "popcorn flicks" as well, like Everest and the latest Pirates, as well as Jack Ryan.

I mean, she doesn't have a stunning collection of films recently, but she's been working solid the whole time and has a couple excellent films in there, some decent ones, and then some popcorn movies you do to get a cheque.

Don't know if this applies in this situation, but it's sad when we think of a famous person who isn't in the spotlight anymore and immediately assume they fucked up somehow.

I wonder how many just bought everything they wanted, paid off their debts, built up a fuckton of living money, went "right, i'm out!" and spend their days relaxing in a picturesque yard doing crosswords and drinking their way through a list of every known cocktail.
