1. You think Twilight Princess was amazing
2. You think Breath of the Wild is one of the best games ever made

Both of which are wrong.

Twilight Princess was overall decent but had some great dungeons.

BotW was overall great but would need serious improvements in several areas if they want to keep the formula.

but I also don't understand most people who say it sucks because all they do is complain about the controls. the controls are the only reason the game is remarkable at all and it would suck even more with normal controls

Same here. I only completed it once and have no current plans to return, but I enjoyed it from the time I played.

Though tbf, had I bought it at launch instead of a few years later, I'd have been pissed. Great game for $20, not so much for $50.

It might have been good if it weren't on the Wii. Motion controls and the lack of HD (in 2011) made it unplayable imo.

Both of those games are vastly superior to SS, who has the worst helper in the franchise. Tatl wasn't remotely as bad as Navi for that matter.

Skyward Sword just felt like a letdown.

In a series that had been giving us pretty varied locales and places to explore for the last couple of games, to whittle down the entire game to forest desert lava was incredibly underwhelming.

The design choice to make the entire game feel like a dungeon isnt necessarily a bad one, but then what purpose do the dungeons serve? What results is the overworld feeling like a dilute, superfluous addition to the actual dungeons.

The pacing was constantly interrupted with mini games and distractions that, in any other Zelda game, would have been optional content that rewarded you with a heart piece or a bigger quiver. Here, its forced upon the storys progression.

Also that one boss with the big toes. Making us redo it several times was probably intended to add tension to the story but ended up just feeling monotonous.

The story itself was meaningless. On its own it was forgettable, and it added nothing to the overall myth except a mediocre helper mascot well never see again and a proto-Ganon that wasnt needed.

The sky town was okay though and the characters were fun.

I really don't like any 3D Zelda games outside of Breath of the Wild, which really is one of the best games I've ever played, so Skyward Sword just looked like something I would have absolutely zero amounts of fun with

I'd buy Skyward Sword all over again if a remake had traditional controls. Same for the DS games.
Otherwise, I have no interest in a slightly-prettier version of the same awkward thing.
