Tony Hawk's Pro skater 5 came out way later and that game is dog shit. The time something comes out doesn't really effect quality. Tons of older games are still much better than new ones. Halo never made a game better than CE. MW1/2 are much better than recent games. So many examples.

Skate was EAs answer to activision, and they abandoned the skate franchise faster than they did Rock Band. But keep telling yourself skate was better.

It's hard to say one series is better than the other since they're both so different. I will play a game of either series whenever I'm in a certain particular mood. If I want some realistic skating I'll play Skate, if I want some arcadey wackiness I'll play THPS.

I mean both are good but Skate is obviously much better.

Tighter controls, closer to actual skateboarding, more options for tricks. Open World instead of tiny levels. Ability to tag/reset a spot. Online (wonky but it worked). Death races

The only thing the Tony Hawk games had over Skate is THUG 1's rivalry with Sparrow.

Not the same at all. When THPS came out PlayStation controllers didnt even have analog sticks on them. They had to fit an entire game on a CD. They are incomparable because tHPS was inherently limited.

If you take them in the context of their release, THPS was completely revolutionary and novel with nothing to guide its development. Skate was also pretty revolutionary but it had the benefit of THPS to use as a guide. Skate is for all intents and purposes a THUG ripoff with a cool and skill based trick system.

But yeah newer THPS definitely started to suck by the time skate came around. But that isnt the argument you are making.

Tony hawk fanboys are the worst

I'm completely uninterested in realistic skateboarding because I'm no longer 14 years old, so Tony Hawk was way more fun to me because it's less about simulating anything and more about putting together insane combos and flying around at 500mph between rooftops and over swimming pools

I still to this day play Skate 3 almost every day. When I am bored I just boot it up and try some street lines in the downtown district. Its so satisfying to land tricks in that game. I also use it to warm up for Overwatch and Rocket League lol
