Yesterday was my first time sitting down and really watching this movie. I had seen various little clips here and there when I was a kid, but had never watched start to finish.

The Good
- The soundtrack, first and foremost. John Williams at just about his best.

- The scenery, sets, etc. Very beautiful movie. Every scene is very well setup from the sets they built, the wardrobe, to the various props and such. Great job at capturing a 1930s setting while still dazzling us with that Hollywood touch.

- The humor. Much like Star Wars, it uses subtle humor and sprinkles it around. I especially like how that girl, no matter what the situation, seemed to always get screwed over. It was a recurring theme that got funnier every time.

- The directorial work. Camera angles, camera switches, camera movement, and general flow of the movie was extremely well done as expected from this director.

The Bad
- The fight scenes. My goodness were they ever terrible. It's like they didn't even try to make it look like punches were making contact. And the enemies don't even appear to be trying.

- The plot. I didn't realize this going in, but this movie is literally about a guy who tries to find literal Noah's Ark and the secret power held within it before Nazis from Germany do. This doesn't really ruin the movie, but it seems a bit farfetched lol.

Score=8/10
I enjoyed this movie overall. Was disheartened to read that Temple of Doom isn't anywhere nearly as good. But I'll still watch it and the others and post my reviews.

Its an homage to 50s action serials in the same way Star Wars was an homage to the space operas of yesteryear. The plot and action are supposed to be zany and borderline exploitative.

Well, regardless if they were "going" for that style or not, I wasn't a fan of how the fighting scenes turned out. The "action" scenes in general were still entertaining despite those fighting parts, though.

Lol Noah's Ark.

I look forward to your review of Last Crusade, in which they they seek the lost relic of Monty Python's Holy Grail.

?????

You must have me confused with somebody else. FYI, when I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark, I was rooting for Indiana Jones to beat the Nazis. So what does that tell you?

I know I know...I'm stupid. I have a hard time paying attention to all the little details during dialogue scenes.

A bit of understanding of the mythology behind the Ark of the Covenant would go a long way in appreciating the movie more.

Definitely sounds like it. Although I can't say I'm a fan of the idea of needing to do research beforehand to fully enjoy the movie.
