I want it for gaming and video editing.

Laptop is cool if I can get something great for low price.

Desktop is preferrable, but I have never built one feel like it's too late to research parts in time.

The performance gap between desktops and laptops isn't nearly what it used to be. There is still somewhat of a price gap, though, but you can get a good gaming laptop at a reasonable price even without the biggest sale of the year these days.

Biggest advantage for a desktop is upgradeability. On laptops you can usually only - and even this is if you're lucky - upgrade the wifi adapter, RAM and storage devices (sometimes including the optical drive, if there is one). Upgrading the CPU or GPU is out of the question.

Gaming laptops are about twice the cost of a same level desktop rig.

What sort of video editing? High-end professional can run upwards of 10k.
Amateur wanting to put it on youtube maybe 800. upwards of 1200 is when you hit bottle necks

stop saying things like that
here's a brand new pc for $500000 down to $5000 that's worth only $100 but it's "cheap".

Give me a budget

this is true, gaming laptops have def climbed out of the "never buy this" rut

Also depending on how long the rendering takes, desktops don't throttle as much as laptops usually do

budget editing, get 16GB of RAM

Throttling is when performance slows down to artificial limits (cpu is at 100 degrees, so it slows down to cooldown) usually to prevent system failure/it exploding/whatever

If your looking to build try pcpartpicker.com it is supposed to ensure parts are compatible. I'd also suggest avoiding newegg because from personal experience alot of stuff arrives broken and there return policy takes weeks for a turnaround if they even replace your part.

Quick question. Laptops has weaker performance than desktops? Because the mobility factor is betty attractive, but i don't want a sucky machine in comparison

Laptops cost more than the desktop equivalent for performance. Hey have full video cards these days so its performance is pretty close to desktops. In the past they would have a M card which was weaker then a full card. Basically if you need the mobility it's worth it but if you really dont need mobility a desktop is the better choice price wise.

get 1050 ti instead
or a 1060 if you can afford it
both will be fine at 1080 for 60fps
1060 would last longer
get the 4gb of the 1050 ti tho

also what the fuck are you doing with it that's portable

Why those ones? If you dont mind explaining because the article you gave me described why each part was good for this build. Just wondering why they didnt choose the parts you are now suggesting.

okay so basically you don't need a high end gpu for video editng
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05XnRCHEfxc" data-time="

If you really care, you can watch that.
Editing isn't too bad but the difference is in rendering times.

a 1050 is fine but a 1060 is about 20% faster. Which isn't a bid deal, at all. You could just set it up to render overnight.

a 1050 will run most games. It'll start to struggle to get 60FPS at 1080p resolution. 1050 ti is better, 1060 is probably the best for now if you want to stay under 800.

And then are you able to actually build it? If yes, give me a country and I'll put together a parts list

Just get the cheaper ones in that article
and look for a 1060 and don't get the k version of the processor, you're not gonna overclock
