I think so. Instead of just memorizing facts, I think there should be more focus on critical thinking to explain why a certain statement is true and to help build problem solving skills.

A lot of it is the parents. Parents are afraid to expose their kids to hardship and constantly hold their hands. Kids don't develop the confidence to make decisions and think for themselves, or it never becomes a possibility for them, creating actually useless people.

Reasoning classes should be mandatory, if only to make internet arguments less stupid.

But no, really, it would be the most immediately tangible benefit to the students.

School is heavily oriented towards stupid test taking. In the end you become good at taking tests but little else.
